The Outside

The automatic on/off headlamps are tied into a Rainlamp program that activates the headlights when the wipers are engaged. The truck sits on a fully boxed frame made of the strongest steel, and the spare tire carrier is located under the frame of the rear. The front and rear bumpers are coated in sleek black to match the stylish front grille, and the front end features a “Mega Power Frunk” that includes four 120-volt outlets for on-the-go power.

The Inside

Cabin control is simple with the Lightning’s dual-zone automatic temperature control system, and all the cabin and media settings can be controlled from the 12-inch digital productivity screen located at the center of the dashboard. This screen is also where you can access Ford’s own SYNC® 4 infotainment system hub, and this system has been updated for more accurate voice recognition. The onboard FordPass™ connectivity program allows you to connect up to ten devices and use the 5G WiFi hotspot.

How Much Power Does the Lightning Have?

On a full charge, the Lightning can travel about 240 miles before requiring a battery refill. The Lightning base model comes right out of the box able to tow 5,000 pounds. This robust truck comes with not just one electric motor, but dual electric motors. There is one on each axle and these motors can deliver a whopping 775 lb-ft of torque.

The Lightning features a few selectable driving modes, so you can choose from Normal, Off-Road, Towing, or Sport when you’re driving.

Safety Is Still a Priority

Ford’s Lightning model comes equipped with the Blind Spot Information System, so you’ll never be caught by surprise on the road. This system includes a Cross Traffic Alert as well as Trailer Tow Coverage, and both of these supplemental programs make it easy to see what’s going on behind your vehicle. Other included safety features are Post-Collision Braking, Pre-Collision Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, and the Lane-Keeping System.
