Englewood, Florida has a lot to offer and finds ways to come together to help our community and water environment. One of the events that we, at Englewood Ford are proud to be part of is the Englewood Beach Waterfest. Read along to learn more about this yearly event that is taking place from November 18th to November 21, 2021.
About the Festival
Englewood Beach Waterfest is “a 501c3 Florida Corporation whose mission is to stage spectator events, participant competitions and educational forums that showcase Englewood’s unique water resources and recreational opportunities.” This gives the opportunity for members of our community, including business owners, citizens, and charities to team up and raise proceeds to support local charities that focus on water conservation and recreation. During this festival, there several events that happen during the 4 days of the festival leading to the OPA (Offshore Powerboat Association) World Championship!
Events Overview
1. PowerUp Pre-Race Party at the Lighthouse Grill
To celebrate the kickoff of Waterfest, there will be live music, food and an open cash bar at The Lighthouse Grill from 5pm to 10pm on Thursday, November 18th. Get the chance to meet the OPA Championship drivers as well as get a sneak peak of their boats before the race. This event will be open to the public.
2. Dearborn Street Block Party
On Friday, November 19th from 5pm to 9pm the Dearborn Street Block Party will take place. During the block party there will be a parade where you can see the race boats. There will be live music, food, and drinks during the block party for everyone to enjoy. So, bring the family and have a great time here in Englewood, Florida.
3. OPA Racing World Championships
The OPA Racing World Championships will take place at the Englewood Beach on Saturday, November 20th and Sunday, November 21st from 10am to 4pm. Come and watch over 75 boats race at over 150 mph. While you’re enjoying the races the Family Conservation Center and The Beach Oasis Cantina and Food Court will give you and your family a great time at the beach.
- The Family Conservation Center: They will have 6 exhibits throughout the Waterfest beach grounds for families to enjoy and learn about the ocean and the creatures that inhabit it. There will also be other kid’s activities such as face painting, a photo booth, a butterfly encounter, boat building, sand art, and a scavenger hunt.
- Beach Oasis Cantina and Food Court: Did you think we almost forgot the food and drinks? There will be tents set out on the beach with amazing food and cocktails from Englewood’s best local restaurants. Grab a bite or two while watching the races or enjoy a refreshing cocktail, wine, or a beer with traditional festival food options. Get ready to chow down on funnel cakes, popcorn, snow cones, pretzels, ice cream and much more! For the adults, make sure to get the signature drink “Raceday Cocktail” from The Lighthouse Grill.
